Gray Marble Kitchen Floor
This single-family home renovation near I-285 in the Cumberland area included a kitchen update with new gray high-gloss lower cabinets, wood-tone upper cabinets, and a gray marble-look porcelain floor. The floor tile was the final trade on site, which meant working with the kitchen fully installed and all appliances placed. Every cut was a real constraint against a fixed edge.
The gray marble-look tile has a subtle veining pattern that is directional. We oriented all tiles in the same direction so the veining reads as a continuous flow across the floor rather than a random mix of orientations. This requires sorting tiles before installation and discarding any that are dramatically different in shade or pattern concentration.
What We Did
- Sorted tiles by tone and pattern before installation to ensure visual consistency.
- Checked slab flatness; applied leveling compound where needed.
- Oriented all tiles in same vein direction; set with leveling clips.
- Grouted with matching gray grout; cleaned and sealed.
